Sit down, kid. You want to build websites? You want to be the next big thing in tech? You want to make that bag while sitting in your pajamas? Well, you can't do any of that without HTML. No cap. Fr. HTML is the absolute foundation. It’s the skeleton of the web. Without it, your "website" is just a collection of ideas floating in the void. You’re like a dude trying to build a house without a frame. It’s gonna collapse, and everyone’s gonna laugh at you. Don’t be that guy. Sit down and learn.

What is HTML anyway?

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. But don't let the name scare you. It’s not a programming language. Fr. It’s a markup language. That means it doesn’t "do" things like a program (if/else, loops, that's JS territory); it just describes what things ARE. It tells the browser, "Yo, this is a heading," "This is a paragraph," "This is a link to my SoundCloud." It’s the structure, kid. Simple as that.

The Anatomy of a Tag

HTML is made of tags. Tags are like the brackets in your life. Most of them come in pairs: an opening tag and a closing tag. No cap, if you forget your closing tag, you’re trippin'. It’s like leaving your front door open at night. Anything could happen.

Look at this:

<p>This is a paragraph, fr.</p>

The <p> is the opening tag. The </p> is the closing tag. The stuff in the middle is the content. Together, they make an element. If you can’t remember this, maybe web dev isn't for you. Fr.
